Your curls are beautiful!

Being a Multicultrual salon, we get to service a great deal of children, teens, and adults who are of bi-racial or multi-racial descent. Of course, that means they have various types of curly hair. Most of the time these clients just want to learn how to manage their "unruly" hair. Lately, however, I have been seeing more and more clients (mostly children and teens) who seem to be ashamed of their hair and are willing to do anything to change the texture of their naturally curly hair. It just bothers me when a parent brings in a child to see us, and both parent and child hate the curls so much because it's just too unmanageable. When a parent responds in this manner, it does absolutely nothing for the child's self-esteem. Most of the time, the child's hair texture is very manageable with the right product, understanding of how to care for it, and the patience to deal with it. I think it is also important for parents of bi-racial children to understand that they may need assistance washing, detangling, and styling their hair well into their teen years. At our salon we try our best to make our naturally curly hair clients love their hair, embrace it, and know that they are beautiful with it!

In response to the growing number of multi-racial children, we have created a class called Kurly Kids. In this class parents and children learn the correct way to wash, condition, detangle, and style curly hair. We also go over different styling options and how to maintain those styles. Participants will be given a 1-on-1 consultation to determine the best product for their particular type of curl pattern. For more information, please contact the salon at 480-753-4448.
